Venice Lagoon
CHIOGGIA – JESOLO – TREVISO
The complicated ecosystem of the Venice Lagoon is the result of notable orographic changes which started over 6.000 years ago and the human ones over the last century. Now it presents itself as a large basin of salt water of around 550 Kmq, bordered to the East by Pellestrina, Lido and Cavallino litorals. Chioggia, Malamocco and S. Nicolò are access ports to the Adriatic Sea. The average depth is a little bit over a metre. The tides, thanks to the constant phenomenon of ebb and flow, keep this singular humid area alive with endemic flora and fauna.
